I thought that would get your attention! Does anyone really believe that I, or anyone else, can predict the future? Then why is it that so many people believe the so-called experts that call for certain stocks or interest rates to move in the direction they “predict”. Isn’t it obvious to everyone that if any of these charlatans actually knew what any equity would do in the future that the last thing they would do is tell the world? Markets, by definition, have buyers and...

I recently read an article from an advisor referral website that claimed the only type of advisor one should use is a fee-based (or fee-only) financial advisor. Not only is that reasoning weak, but also very short-sided. Let’s examine. We live in a free-market capitalist economy. Someone creates a product or service to sell. In regard to “GUARANTEED INCOME RIDERS”*, the explanations of how they work fall into the “Goldilocks Syndrome”. In some cases, not nearly enough information, in others, much too much! Some authors feel the need to explain “actuarial reasoning”, others, do what typically inexperienced advisors do, “tell clients what they want to hear”. Too hot, too cold….. not “just right”! I am going to try to do just that, tell it like “Goldilocks” would! The reason these riders were created was to enable clients to have...
